The fire burning on the north side of Stewart Mountain was nearing full containment Wednesday July 8, according to Department of Natural Resources spokeswoman Janet Pierce.
As of Wednesday morning, a full line had been established around the site of the fire, meaning crews had almost the entire site under control, Pierce said. The fire has been burning since Sunday, July 5, and has since burned about 32 acres of land along the mountain east of Bellingham.
Forecasts for the area are looking better in terms of fire danger, with chances of rain expected Saturday night and into Sunday.
