Need help paying your energy bill? This Whatcom agency is offering some assistance
Whatcom County residents who need assistance paying their energy bills could be eligible for assistance through the Opportunity Council, a non-profit community action agency.
The Opportunity Council helps pay heating, water, sewage and energy bills, as well as paying electricity, propane, heating oil, wood and natural gas bills depending on the time of year.
The council will be offering energy assistance appointments to determine if you are eligible over the phone starting on Nov. 5, according to a news release from the council.
The appointments will be available from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, and will continue into the following week until all appointments are filled. The council will schedule more appointments in January 2023.
Appointments can be scheduled online or by calling 360-255-2192 from 9 a.m.-noon and 1 p.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
