New video shows smoke rising from Whatcom’s Chilliwack Complex wildfire

The Northwest Interagency Coordination Center released new video Thursday evening, Sept. 15, of smoke rising from the Chilliwack Complex wildfires in Whatcom County about five to 15 miles east of the Mt. Baker Ski Area.

The fires, which are a series of four lightning-caused wildfires in the North Cascades National Park Complex, were first reported, along with some trail and campsite closures in the area, last week by the Mount Baker Snoqualmie National Forest.

As of Friday morning, Sept. 16, the Northwest Interagency Coordination Center’s Large Fire Interactive Web Map, showed the four fires had consumed more than 6,400 acres.
