Need an apartment? See cheapest Bellingham spots, rental price changes on interactive map 

Trying to find an affordable apartment or rental seems to be impossible these days, but some Whatcom County areas are starting to see decreases in rent prices.

Bellingham’s 98225 ZIP code area rental costs have increased in August, with a median rental cost of $1,850, according to RentHub, a rental housing data company. RentHub examines prices from houses, multiplexes and apartments of all bed/bath sizes.

Bellingham’s 98226 ZIP code saw a slight decrease in median rental prices between July and August for all rental properties. August’s median rental cost was $1,757, dropping from $1,900.

Rental prices have also significantly increased throughout the past year in the 98225 ZIP code.

August’s median rent price was $1,850 in the 98225 ZIP code, a 27.59% increase since August 2021.

The 98226 ZIP code’s median rent price was $1,757 in August, only a 3.35% increase compared to last August’s prices.

The average rent for a one-bedroom apartment in Bellingham ranged from $1,295 to $1,300 in August, according to a report from Zumper.com. A two-bedroom apartment averaged $1,825.

The current average rent for a two-bedroom apartment in Bellingham as of Sept. 9 is $1,850 a month, an 16% increase in cost compared to last year, according to Zumper.
