Looking to cool off? Ten things to know about Birch Bay Waterslides
Birch Bay Waterslides has been a staple for summers in Whatcom County for over 35 years. This summer has been no different with temperatures into the 90s.
Whether you’re returning or this is your visit, here are 10 things to know before going to the water park at 4874 Birch Bay Lynden Road in Blaine.
1) Check hours and ticket prices before you visit.
Hours and ticket prices are updated every morning on the Birch Bay Waterslides website. Ticket prices range from $12 to $27 depending on the time of day you plan to visit. Make sure to check if there are any special events going on the day you plan to visit. You can also call them at 360-371-7500 or send them an email if you have any questions.
2) Outside food and drink are allowed.
Coolers with food and drinks are permitted inside the park if you’re planning on spending a lot of time there. No glass or alcohol is allowed in the park. They also have a concessions stand with corndogs, hot dogs, cheeseburgers and french fries.
3) Arrive early to guarantee a good spot.
If you’re not planning on reserving a covered picnic table area, arrive early to make sure you get a good spot. The park is full of lounge chairs, picnic tables and round tables with umbrellas that are on a first-come, first-serve basis. Be sure to check the weather before you go to see how busy the park may be that day.
4) Lockers are available to rent.
If you don’t want to leave your things in the park, lockers are available to rent. You can rent a locker inside the park at the gift shop but you must return the key before you leave the park.
5) The Drop water slide is closed for the season.
Due to maintenance, The Drop is closed for the season. However, The Black Hole, right next to it, is still open and there are six other water slides that can be enjoyed by guests.
6) Covered picnic table areas are available to reserve.
There are twelve covered picnic areas that can be reserved for a day on the website. Birch Bay Waterslides has eight standard covered areas for $50 a day, two premium covered areas for $60 a day and two deluxe covered areas for $80. Be sure to plan accordingly for the size of your group.
7) Parking is free.
There is a large parking lot in front of Birch Bay Waterslides that offers free parking for guests. Again, be sure to arrive early for a good spot, as there is no reserved parking.
8) There are a variety of pools to lounge in.
Along with eight water slides, Birch Bay Waterslides offers two pools to relax and play in. There is a shallow activity pool that is perfect for little kids and families, as well as a hot tub to relax in.
9) There are slides for kids.
The Kiddie Pool, for ages 8 and under, includes three smaller and slower slides for little kids to enjoy. The Ramp slide also offers a small trip into a pool of water that is perfect for younger kids and families.
10) There are activities other than water slides.
The park also features a sand volleyball court and a basketball court if you want to take a break from the water. Volleyballs and basketballs are available to borrow from the gift shop, or you can bring your own.
