This second small earthquake struck near Bellingham on Monday
A quake of magnitude 2.3 was reported at shortly after noon Monday, Aug. 1, centered four miles northwest of Sedro-Woolley. It was measured at 8 miles deep, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
A quake of magnitude 1.0 to 3.0 is not felt except by a very few under especially favorable conditions, according to the USGS.
No damage was reported, and there were no immediate reports about the quake south of Bellingham on the USGS’ “Did You Feel It?” web page.
Quakes of less than magnitude 3.0 are common, and tens of thousands are reported worldwide every year, according to the USGS.
A 2.0-magnitude earthquake struck Sunday, July 31, just west of Whatcom County waters near the San Juan Islands Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
