Here’s where to find the best U-pick berries in Whatcom County this season
Berry picking is a staple of Whatcom County summer and local farms are beginning to open for the season.
Strawberries, raspberries and blueberries can be found at farms all over the county, with a number of them offering fresh produce and U-pick flowers as well.
Conditions for berry picking are not always predictable, because of weather changes and demand, so be sure to call the farm or visit their website or social media before going out.

Haugen’s Raspberry Farm
Where: 577 E. Pole Road, Lynden.
When: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday; open until July 31 (weather may affect daily hours).
Offers: U-pick blueberries and raspberries, accepts cash and checks only.

Boxx Berry Farm
Where: 6211 Northwest Drive, Ferndale.
When: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
Offers: U-pick strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries; strawberries available throughout June, although there is a late start due to cold weather; raspberries and blackberries available throughout July, and blueberries available from mid-July to mid-August; check for up-to-date information on their website and social media.

Bellingham Country Gardens
Where: 2838 E. Kelly Road, Bellingham.
When: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays; open June to October.
Offers: U-pick no-spray strawberries, raspberries, tomatoes, carrots, peas, green beans, beets, potatoes, salad greens and flowers; now including sunflowers.

When: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, opening July 8.

Offers: No-spray U-pick at three locations. Strawberries at Siper Road location now to mid-July; raspberries, tayberries, giant blackberries, boysenberries and loganberries at Mt. Baker Highway location in July; blueberries, raspberries, tayberries and blackberries at Lynden location in July-August.
