Volunteers wanted to help Bellingham-area homeless July 24

Organizers of the seventh annual effort to provide free services to the homeless are seeking volunteers for the Friday, July 24, event at Bellingham High School.

Volunteers are needed for check-ins, to guide people to services and to serve lunch, among other assignments. About 30 volunteers also are needed Thursday, July 23 to help set up the event.

Some volunteer positions require a brief training prior to the event.

Services offered during Project Homeless Connect will be confidential.

At last year’s event, 350 volunteers and providers from more than 30 health and human service agencies helped 515 people access a host of services that included dental exams, foot care and employment screenings.
