A quake of magnitude 3.6 was reported at 4:15 a.m. Sunday, May 1, centered one mile east of Mount Vernon. It was measured at eight miles deep, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
A quake of magnitude 3.0 to 3.9 is felt only by a few persons at rest, especially on upper floors of buildings or felt quite noticeably by persons indoors, especially on upper floors of buildings, according to the USGS.
No damage was reported in the quake 28 miles south of Bellingham, but it was felt by at least 401 who reported the quake on the USGS’ “Did You Feel It?” web page and social media posts.
