It’s not too late for disaster assistance in Whatcom after winter’s flooding

Although the deadline to apply for Federal Emergency Management Agency disaster assistance after flooding in Whatcom County in 2021 passed March 7, the agency is still offering relief for those who need assistance.

Those who were affected by the Nov. 5-Dec. 2 disasters should stay in touch with FEMA and notify it of damages, current statuses of insurance settlements and changes in personal information, according to a Tuesday, March 15, news release.

Those who applied for any business, homeowner or rental loans are also encouraged to check on the applications or any messages regarding the loans they may have received.

To contact FEMA about assistance needs or loans, visit disasterassistance.gov, use the FEMA mobile app or call 800-621-3362. FEMA’s telephone operates from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
