Video: Waffle-dog eating contest at Bellingham’s Over Easy
Over Easy, a new breakfast and brunch restaurant, hosted a waffle-dog eating contest as part of its grand opening celebration June 26-28.
The Saturday, June 27, contest was a race to wolf down as many waffle dogs as possible in five minutes. The item is a favorite at Over Easy, 2430 James St. It’s a breakfast sausage dipped in waffle batter and then fried golden brown.
Anthony Bailey, Max Benedict, Adam Bohnett and Anne Bohnett competed. Bailey, on the end in the video, employed a technique used by many competitive eaters: dunking the food in water before trying to eat it. He took first place after consuming 14 waffle dogs in five minutes.
