Buy a Hit 5 Lottery ticket near Bellingham? You may have won $120K, but you must act fast
If you stopped along Interstate 5 in early July and purchased a Washington’s Lottery Hit 5 ticket from the Alger Shell Station, you NEED to check that ticket ... and soon — you may have won $120,000.
That’s the good news.
The bad news? You only have until the Lottery’s regional offices close at 5 p.m. Jan. 4, 2022, to claim your prize.
The Lottery said there are a total of 18 unclaimed prizes each worth at least $10,000 that have not yet been claimed. One of the prizes includes at Hit 5 ticket purchased in Bellevue that is worth $415,000, while another, purchased south of Bellingham at the Shell station at 1454 Lake Samish Road, is worth $120,000.
But only if it is its claimed within 180 days of the drawing date — otherwise they expire.
The date of the drawing, according to the Lottery’s unclaimed prizes page, was July 8, 2021, meaning Jan. 4 is the final day to claim the prize.
And the winning numbers — 2, 8, 16, 27 and 41.
“By law, prizes that aren’t claimed are placed into a reserve account,” the Lottery release reads. “Each June, the surplus in the reserve account is transferred to the Washington Opportunity Pathways Account (WOPA), which helps support education in Washington State. WOPA helps college students across the state achieve their dreams and supports early childhood education programs.”
Winners of prizes worth more than $100,000 are instructed to call the Lottery office near them to make an appointment to claim their prize. Lottery regional offices are located in Everett, Federal Way, Olympia, Spokane and Yakima and are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
The Everett regional office, 11419 19th Ave. SE, Suite A106, can be reached by calling 425-356-2902.
