Whatcom woman identified as driver in last week’s fatal head-on crash in Snohomish County

A Whatcom County woman has been identified as one of two people who died in a head-on crash with a dump truck last week on U.S. 2 in Snohomish County.

Deming’s Haley L. Terry, 23, was the driver of a gray 2011 Mercedes ML SUV that struck the dump truck head-on Thursday, Nov. 18, according to the updated Washington State Patrol incident report.

Terry’s passenger, 28-year-old Xhavier A. Terry of Everett, also died in the crash, according to the report.

Haley Terry was driving westbound on U.S. 2 east of Monroe at approximately 12:50 p.m. Thursday when the Mercedes left the roadway to the right, according to the State Patrol report.

Haley Terry’s car corrected to the left, crossed the center line and struck head-on a red 2022 Peterbuilt dump truck towing a trailer that was heading eastbound, according to the State Patrol.

The Mercedes caught fire after the crash, according to a story by the Everett Herald.

Haley and Xhavier Terry both died at the scene, according to the State Patrol report, which added that neither was wearing their seat belts.

The 58-year-old Lake Stevens man who was driving the dump truck was wearing a seat belt and was taken to EvergreenHealth Monroe to treat his injuries.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated by the State Patrol, and it was unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved, according to the report.

Both directions of U.S. 2 were closed for hours, according to the Everett Herald.
