Woman injured as smoky fire damages this Sunnyland home
One person was injured as fire damaged a Sunnyland neighborhood home Monday afternoon, Nov. 1.
A passer-by reported the fire just after 1 p.m. Monday, the Bellingham Fire Department said on its Facebook page.
When firefighters arrived, they found an injured woman in the front yard of the home at 518 E. North St., said firefighter Dustin Michaelis, Fire Department spokesman.
Michaelis told The Bellingham Herald that her name and details of her injuries couldn’t be released because of medical privacy laws, but her condition likely wasn’t life-threatening.
An ambulance took her to St. Joseph hospital.
Cause and extent of the fire in the 750-square-foot home were still under investigation, Michaelis said.
“The crews said there was not much fire but there was a lot of smoke,” Michaelis said.
Firefighters got the fire under control within minutes, he said.
