Bellingham motorcyclist dies after being thrown from bike in Skagit County

A Bellingham man died after being thrown from his motorcycle and struck by a pickup truck on State Route 11 Saturday morning, Sept. 26, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Collin Coleman, 25, was riding northbound on Highway 11 in Skagit County on a 2017 Yamaha FZ07 when he crossed the center line and was thrown off the motorcycle and into the southbound lane, according to the release.

He was then struck by a pickup truck as the bike came to rest on the southbound shoulder. Coleman was declared dead at the scene while the pickup truck driver was uninjured. The report says that the cause was the man driving too fast for the conditions.

Drugs and alcohol were not a factor and the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet.
