PeaceHealth announces location for new north Whatcom County medical clinic

PeaceHealth announced Monday afternoon, Sept. 21, that it purchased five acres of land in Lynden — the next step in opening a medical clinic to serve northern Whatcom County in approximately two years.

“We are delighted to move one step closer to enhance healthcare service to the communities in North Whatcom County,” Vice President of Operations for PeaceHealth Medical Group Northwest Washington and Southeast Alaska Misty Parris said in a release about the purchase. “The site for the future clinic is ideal with easy access and room for plenty of parking.”

The site is located at the intersection of East Badger Road and Benson Road, according to the release, and is large enough to house a 22,500 square-foot facility. Parris told The Bellingham Herald in an email that the new location will be located behind the Kulshan Veterinary Hospital on the southeast corner of the intersection.

Construction on the clinic is scheduled to begin this spring, with a scheduled opening date approximately 18 months later.

Plans are to have 15 providers and 40 to 45 support employees work in the new clinic, which will offer primary care services, according to the release. The Lynden-based orthopedic clinic also is expected to move to the site. Specialty care services, such as cardiology, OB-GYN and pediatrics, and ancillary services, such as imaging and laboratory services, will be added as needed.

Portland-base PKA architects will design the facility, according to the release.
