A 40-year-old woman reported missing after she didn’t return from her normal morning walk Thursday, June 11, has been found “safe and sound,” according to a tweet from the Bellingham Police Department.

The alert on Heidi Ausfahl, described as a white woman who was last seen wearing an olive green sweatshirt, jeans and white tennis shoes, was updated by police about 9:30 p.m.

Ausfahl went for her normal walk Thursday morning around 6 a.m. and had not returned. She left from the 2700 block of Woburn Street in Bellingham.

There is no evidence that points to violence or suspected danger in Ausfahl’s disappearance, Bellingham Police Lt. Claudia Murphy said when the woman was missing. If the police were aware of anything that would help someone who finds Ausfahl, such as when a person with dementia walks away from a nursing home, that information would have been released in the tweets about Ausfahl, Murphy said.

A family member reported Ausfahl missing, Murphy said. No information was available about Ausfahl’s normal walking route or the direction she may have been headed in, she said.
