Here’s where and when you can start U-picking berries in Whatcom County

It’s that time of year again Bellingham, berry season!

As the temperature continues to warm, fresh strawberries, raspberries and blueberries will soon be ready to enjoy despite the unique circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Many farms and stores have implemented social distancing guidelines as they were deemed essential by Gov. Jay Inslee’s “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” order and have remained open or are beginning to open for the season. Many locations ask that you call ahead for curbside pickup.

Seasonal changes are almost a given for local farms, so call ahead or check websites to see if the produce is ready before you venture out.

Farms are in Bellingham unless noted.

For a list of farms outside of Whatcom County, and for more details in our area, go to smallfarms.wsu.edu to search for a farm and crop locator, hosted by Washington State University’s Small Farms Team.
