Bellingham City Council’s single-family home limit public hearing will be held online
Bellingham City Council will hold a virtual public hearing this week on an emergency housing measure, the first since coronavirus social-distancing requirements forced public agencies to move their meetings online in late March.
Only a few such online public hearings have been held across the state in recent weeks, said Monea Kerr, the council’s legislative assistant.
State law requires a public hearing within 60 days of an emergency ordinance approval.
On March 9, the council approved an emergency measure to limit new applications for single-family homes in areas that are zoned for duplexes, townhouses and other kinds of multi-family housing.
Council members are meeting remotely at 7 p.m. Monday, May 4, using a web-based platform under the statewide order that limits in-person gatherings to avoid spreading the COVID-19 virus.
Council meetings are streamed live via the city’s website at meetings.cob.org and on the City of Bellingham YouTube channel. Meetings are broadcast in high definition on BTV, Comcast channel 321, and in standard definition on Comcast channel 10.
Those without internet access who want to listen to the meeting can call 360-778-8200 for a telephone access code.
