Did you feel it this morning? Small quake shakes in waters off Northwest Washington

A 2.0 magnitude quake was reported at 3:38 a.m. Wednesday off the San Juan Islands near the U.S.-Canada border. It was measured at 35.7 miles deep, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The epicenter was located in Boundary Pass between Stuart and Waldron islands, approximately 31 miles from Bellingham, according to Googlemaps.com.

No damage was reported, and nobody has reported feeling the quake on the USGS’ “Did You Feel It?” web page.

Quakes of less than magnitude 3.0 are common, and tens of thousands are reported worldwide every year, according to the USGS.

A quake of magnitude 1.0 to 3.0 is not felt except by a very few under especially favorable conditions, according to the USGS.
