Two Whatcom County women injured after their vehicle over-corrects, hits tree
Two Whatcom County women were injured early Sunday morning when their vehicle over-corrected and hit a tree, according to a Washington State Patrol press release.
Around 1:20 a.m. on Jan. 26, 35-year-old Denise L. Brooks, of Everson, was driving a 2002 Chevy Tahoe southbound on Emerson Road near Massey Road southeast of Everson. Brooks’ vehicle left the roadway to the left, over-corrected to the right and then struck a tree, the State Patrol release states.
Justine L. Brooks, 32, of Maple Falls, was in the passenger seat. Both Brooks’ were injured and taken to St. Joseph hospital. Both were wearing their seatbelts, according to the release.
Denise Brooks was transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and Justine Brooks was treated and released, according to Bev Mayhew, spokesperson for St. Joseph’s hospital.
Denise Brooks was in satisfactory condition Monday, according to Susan Gregg, a spokesperson for Harborview.
Drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash, and Denise Brooks is being charged with DUI, according to the release and State Patrol Trooper Rocky Oliphant.
