Bellingham woman among 4 killed in crash with semitrailer south of Yakima
A Bellingham woman was among four people killed when a semitrailer and an SUV she was in collided Tuesday morning, May 7, in Central Washington near Yakima.
Frances Northover, 41, died in the crash, the Yakima County Coroner’s Office said Wednesday.
Washington State Patrol Trooper Justin Rumse told The Associated Press that a Dodge Durango with six people inside ran a stop sign and hit a southbound semitrailer on U.S. Highway 97 south of Toppenish.
Four people in the Durango were killed, including Northover, Rumse said. The other three people killed were from the Yakima Valley, according to the AP story.
The two other people in the Durango were injured and taken to area hospitals, while the semi driver suffered minor injuries.
An FBI spokeswoman told the AP that Yakama Nation tribal police are handling the crash investigation with FBI assistance.
