Rebecca Xczar, a member of the Ferndale Planning Commission since 2013, has announced she will run for a seat on the City Council.
Xczar, 35, was chairwoman of the Parks, Recreation and Trails Advisory Board in 2011 and 2012. She became part of the Planning Commission in 2013.
“I”m an active listener, and I truly appreciate hearing different viewpoints and considering all of the opportunities and challenges before making final decisions and recommendations,” Xczar said in a prepared statement. “I am so grateful to raise my family in such a strong and vibrant community. Ferndale is an amazing place and I look forward to having the opportunity to play a larger part in growing it responsibly while respecting the unique feel that we all value about this great town.”
She will be running for the council seat currently occupied by Cathy Watson, who announced in January she will be running for mayor.
