Bellingham’s The Black Cat restaurant reopens

After months of remodeling, The Black Cat restaurant is back open for business.

The Fairhaven restaurant at 1200 Harris Ave. closed in August while the new owners did a complete remodel of the space. Co-owner Sam Tino said no surface was left untouched during the project, with the kitchen area getting much of the attention. He added that the look of The Black Cat is the same, as much of the artwork was preserved. The restaurant originally opened in 1987.

Tino, who also operates Mambo Italiano Cafe downstairs from The Black Cat in the Sycamore building, said many of the regular favorites remain on the menu along with some new additions. Kyle Bornstein of Bornstein Seafoods is one of the owners, so the restaurant will offer some seafood items.

The restaurant also has two bars, hand-crafted whiskey, big-screen televisions in one bar area and eight local beers on tap. Details about The Black Cat can be found on its Facebook page.
