A Ferndale man accused of 10 child sex crimes involving five children pleaded not guilty in Whatcom County Superior Court Friday.

Mark Courtenay Fraley, 41, was charged with two counts of first-degree rape of a child, two counts of first-degree incest, three counts of third-degree incest, two counts of first-degree child molestation and one count of second-degree child molestation.

A sexual assault protection order for all alleged victims was entered in court Friday morning, and Fraley’s trial is scheduled for Dec. 4.

The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office has been investigating Fraley for claims of child sex abuse since December 2012. The alleged abuse of the five children ranges from February 2011 to as late as September 2015, according to court records.

The children, both male and female, were as young as age 4 and as old as age 12, during that time, according to court records. The family also has a history of Child Protective Services involvement, court papers indicated.

Fraley remains in Whatcom County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bail.
