Electric cars at the Bellingham Farmers Market? What gives?
Puget Sound Energy and Forth Mobility are hosting the Bellingham Electric Vehicle Ride & Drive event on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bellingham Farmers Market – Depot Market Square, 1100 Railroad Ave.
The event is free and open to the public.
According to PSE’s news release, the event is a chance for the public “to experience new technologies that will help reduce the carbon footprint.”
Attendees will get a chance to ride an E-bike or get behind the wheel of an electric vehicle – available vehicles Saturday include the Nissan Leaf, Toyota Prius, Chevrolet Bolt, and Ford Fusion Energi.
Test drives will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Those interested in test driving one of the vehicles must show a valid driver’s license and sign a waiver – drivers will receive a voucher for a free “EV-presso” at Bellingham Coffee Roasters in the Market after the test drive.
PSE representatives will be available to talk about electric vehicles, the Green Power program and ways to save money and energy.
Attendees can also sign up for a free Home Energy Assessment.
