With limited supply of youth COVID-19 vaccines, this is where to find it in Whatcom County

It’s now been one week since COVID-19 vaccines became available for 5- to 11-year-old children, and supply has been limited, according to a release by the Whatcom County Health Department.

“The pediatric version of the Pfizer vaccine is a different dosage than the version for adults and teens, and the two types are not interchangeable,” the release stated. “From a logistics point of view, it is a separate vaccine, and production of the vaccine is just getting started.

“Similar to when the adult COVID-19 vaccines were first introduced at the end of 2020, the pediatric vaccines will be allocated to each state on a weekly basis.”

In addition, “very few” pediatricians and family doctors in Whatcom County are currently offering the vaccine for children, the health department reported.

The health department listed the following providers who are offering the pediatric vaccine:

Nooksack Valley Drug, 208 E. Main St., Everson, where appointments can be made online only at NooksackValleyDrug.com.

PeaceHealth Cordata Clinic, 4545 Cordata Parkway, where appointments can only be made by phone 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at 833-375-0285.

SeaMar Bellingham Clinic, 4545 Cordata Parkway, and Everson clinic, 6884 Hannegan Road, where appointments are only available for SeaMar patients and children who don’t have a primary care provider who is giving the pediatric vaccine. Schedule by phone at 360-671-3225.

Unity Care NW, 4220 Unity St., where appointments are only available for Unity Care patients and can be scheduled by phone at 360-671-3225.

Walgreens, 4090 Meridian St., 125 South Samish Way and 1070 East Sunset Drive, where appointments can be booked online at Walgreens.com/ScheduleVaccine or by calling (Meridian location: 360-734-0229; Samish location 360-392-2936; Sunset location: 360-647-2713).

The health department also suggests watching its online list of vaccine providers providing the pediatric vaccine (whatcomcounty.us/vaccine) and watching its online list of vaccine clinics (whatcomcounty.us/3530/COVID-19-Vaccine-Information).
