Looking for a free coronavirus test in Whatcom County? Here‘s where that will happen

Sea Mar Community Health Centers will provide free coronavirus testing every Tuesday and Thursday starting June 23, according to the organization.

Appointments can be made for drive-thru and walk-up tests after completing a phone call evaluation with the clinic. Drive-thru tests will be done from cars while walk-up tests will be done outside under a tent.

Tests are free to everyone including those are not Sea Mar patients.

Tests will be available from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays, and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursdays. The testing center will be at the Bellingham Medical Clinic on 4455 Cordata Parkway. Results will be provided by Quest and should be available within 72 hours of the test.

“It’s important for Sea Mar to protect our most vulnerable communities, including Latinos, brown and Black communities, individuals experiencing homelessness, and people who are under- and uninsured,” Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Medical Affairs Dr. Ricardo Jimenez said. “By providing weekly free COVID-19 testing, we’ll be able to slow the spread of the virus and keep our families safe.”

For those with health insurance, all costs and fees associated with coronavirus testing were waived by the Department of Health and the Insurance Commissioner back in March.

To schedule a testing appointment, call the clinic at 360-671-3225.
