SeaFeast and Farmers Day parade join coronavirus cancellations. Seattle’s Seafair, too
SeaFeast, the Lynden Farmers Day Parade and Seafair are the latest major events to be canceled or delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Multiple events in Bellingham and throughout Whatcom County, including the Northwest Washington Fair in Lynden and Ski to Sea have already been canceled as public gatherings are still banned by the state.
“The Bellingham SeaFeast board and staff have determined that the 2020 festival cannot proceed on Sept. 19 and 20 as originally planned,” the board said in a news release. “The unknowns of the ongoing public health crisis, and astounding economic impacts, make it impossible to plan a festival as extensive as we have shared with you in years past.”
The SeaFeast board also pledged to host some “appropriate activities” come September and said they will be looking to come back strong in September 2021.
Likewise, the Lynden Chamber of Commerce announced that the annual Farmers Day parade would be indefinitely delayed due to restrictions on public gatherings. The event was scheduled for June 6 and could be held in the fall, should conditions allow it.
Elsewhere in the state, Seafair canceled it’s major summer events in Seattle, pushing them to 2021, according to its website.
“Given the uncertainty surrounding public health safety, and combined with guidance from local and state governments, Seafair is rescheduling its major events to next year,” the organization said on its website.
Ski to Sea announced they will be accepting donations from the community and encouraging purchases of pre-made 2020 event merchandise including hats, tote bags and cups. Items can be purchased and picked up at the Boundary Bay fish fry drive-thru event 3-7 p.m. on Friday at the brewery at 1107 Railroad Ave.

▪ Downtown Sounds.
▪ Chuckanut Foot Race.
