For third straight day, Whatcom sees one new coronavirus case, no deaths Friday
One more Whatcom County resident has tested positive for COVID-19, the Whatcom County Health Department announced on Friday, April 24, but no new deaths related to coronavirus were reported.
The county now has now had 283 residents test positive and 27 deaths related to the respiratory illness.
It marked the third straight day the county’s number of cases has grown by one, as Whatcom continues to see a slowing in the spread of the disease. Since 11 new cases were announced on April 11, the county has averaged fewer than two new COVID-19 cases per day.
More than 2.7 million cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed worldwide, with more than 194,000 deaths as of Thursday morning, according to Johns Hopkins University. The United States has more than 883,800 confirmed cases — the most reported cases of any nation — with at least 50,373 deaths.
Overall, the Washington State Department of Health reported 12,977 cases and 723 deaths as of Friday evening.
