Disneyland extends closure during coronavirus pandemic. Here’s the latest
Disneyland won’t reopen at the end of March as planned.
Disney Parks said Friday that Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort will stay closed until further notice.
“While there is still much uncertainty with respect to the impacts of COVID-19, the safety and well-being of our guests and employees remains The Walt Disney Company’s top priority,” Disney Parks said in a statement.
Disney workers, called cast members, have been getting paid since the parks closed. That will continue through April 18.
“In light of this ongoing and increasingly complex ciris, we have made the decision to extend paying hourly parks and resorts cast members through April 18,” the statement said.
There is no set date as to when the park will reopen.
Originally, the park was to stay closed through the end of March, according to McClatchy News. It has been closed since March 14.
More than 18 million people visited the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, in 2018, McClatchy News reported.
