Coronavirus deaths reach 147 in Washington state Thursday as confirmed cases climb to 3,207

COVID-19, the illness caused by the fast-spreading new coronavirus, has caused 147 deaths in Washington state as of March 26. There are now 3,207 confirmed cases in the state.

Those represent an increase from Wednesday, March 25, when the tally was 132 dead and 2,580 cases.

The state does not provide any health information on COVID-19 deaths, including that of underlying conditions.

Counties with the most cases and deaths Thursday include:

King, 109 deaths, 1,577 cases.

Pierce, 4 deaths, 186 cases.

Snohomish, 16 deaths, 778 cases.

Whatcom, 4 deaths, 86 cases.

More than 529,000 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed worldwide, with more than 23,900 deaths as of Thursday afternoon, according to Johns Hopkins University. The United States has more than 83,500 confirmed cases, with at least 1,201 deaths.
