Whatcom’s unemployment rate was 7.2 percent in February, matching the revised January rate.
While the same as January, the rate is down significantly from a year earlier, when it was 7.8 percent, according to data from the Washington State Employment Security Department.
In the past year, Whatcom County has added 4,040 jobs for a total of 97,770. The number of people actively seeking work last month was 7,560, down from 7,910 in February 2014.
In Skagit County, the unemployment rate last month was 8.3 percent. King County was at 4.9 percent, while Snohomish was at 5.3 percent.
