Here’s a news release from Lummi Island Wild, which is in the running for a FedEx Small Business Grant award:
Warming Pacific waters are not the only thing local fishermen are keeping an eye on this season. Lummi Island Wild, a co-op of reefnet gears on Legoe Bay, is asking the community to help them win the FedEx Small Business Grant Contest.
The contest recently kicked off with nearly 2,000 businesses across the country competing for the grand prize of $25,000. The number of votes for contest entrants is one factor considered by FedEx. Other factors include the business story and vision and how they would use the grant to enhance their business.
Lummi Island Wild Co-op Reefnet Operations Manager Ian Kirouac says “If we win, we plan to help people access sustainable seafood by shipping FedEx directly to consumers across the country.”
