Here’s a news release from the Bellingham/Whatcom Chamber of Commerce & Industry about its leadership program:
Bellingham, WA – Enrollment is open for Leadership Whatcom, a program of the Bellingham/Whatcom Chamber of Commerce & Industry designed to cultivate the next generation of community leaders.
Leadership Whatcom is a community leadership training program that brings emerging and established leaders together to develop leadership skills, while gaining unique insights into the multifaceted issues our communities are facing as Whatcom County grows and changes.
The class of 20-25 professionals from various industries, nonprofits and municipalities participate in a 10-month program that includes interactive workshops hosted at sites throughout the county.
Participants are introduced to leaders and alumni from across Whatcom County's many communities and industries. Classes meet one full day each month.
In 2015, the program will focus on practical leadership skills that build bridges across generations, differing perspectives, and sectors of the community. Participants will also be joined by Leadership Whatcom alumni during session days and networking events.
“The Chamber is excited to roll out a revamped program that offers participants and the 100+ opportunities to apply their talents in a range of service projects and community conversations throughout the program year. Over the winter we engaged alumni, sponsors and leadership curriculum professionals in focus groups to help strengthen the program, now in its 10th ,” said Guy Occhiogrosso, President/CEO of the Chamber.
Enrollment for the program is $1,000 for Chamber members and $1,200 for non-members and requires a 10-month commitment. Applications for the 2015 Leadership Whatcom Class are available at bellingham.com.
