Village Books in Fairhaven is one of five finalists for the 2015 Bookstore of the Year.
The award is handed out by Publishers Weekly, a book industry trade magazine. The other finalists are Powell’s Books in Portland, Ore., Left Bank Books in St. Louis, McLean & Eakin Booksellers in Petoskey, Mich. and Books & Books in Miami, according to a news release from Village Books.
Cevin Bryerman of Publishers Weekly said in the news release that the each of the finalists made the list because the stores had come up with new strategies for successfully negotiating today’s retail landscape for books.
“We’re thrilled to have been recognized among these outstanding bookstores,” said Village Books co-owner Chuck Robinson. “We have a deep admiration for each of the other stores on the list.”
