Chamber seeking nominees for awards dinner

Here's a news release from the Bellingham/Whatcom Chamber of Commerce & Industry about its annual awards dinner. They will be accepting nominations through Friday, Sept. 19:

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The Bellingham/Whatcom Chamber of Commerce & Industry is welcoming nominations for its Annual Awards. The award winners will be announced at the 10th Annual Awards 

Dinner on Thursday, Dec. 4, at the Best Western PLUS Lakeway Inn and Conference Center. 

The categories open for nomination are Large Business of the Year (21 or more full-time employees), 

Small Business of the Year (20 or less full-time employees), Green Business of the Year and Nonprofit of the Year. 

Award nominees must be Chamber members, but anyone may nominate a business. Nomination forms and a comprehensive list of Chamber members can be found on the Chamber’s website at

Nomination forms are also available at the Chamber’s office at 119 N Commercial St, Suite 110, in Bellingham. 

Award winners are chosen based on criteria including: quality of company management, community service and contribution exceeding the scope of the company’s mission, company growth, educational opportunities for employees, opportunities for advancement and economic stability.

“We host the awards dinner every year to celebrate deserving member businesses and the local business community,” Bellingham/Whatcom Chamber CEO Guy Occhiogrosso said. “It’s a fun way to end the year, acknowledge good business practices and look forward to the future.”

Each year more than 400 business leaders and guests attend the Annual Awards Dinner. The 10th Annual Awards Dinner will feature a formal dinner, musical entertainment and awards show.

The cost to attend the Annual Awards Dinner is $65 for Chamber members and $75 for non-members.
