InfoCare, a longtime Bellingham company that stores and manages document records for companies, was recently acquired by a national firm called Access.
Except for the name change, local customers shouldn't see any immediate changes and will continue to have the same staff in place, said Chris Slaughter, regional vice president for Access. The Bellingham facility has about 14,000 square feet of space.
Diana Roley, InfoCare's operation mamager, is now the branch manager. Howard Furst, InfoCare's founder and owner for nearly 20 years, will help with the ownership transition but won't be a part of the company when that is completed.
In addition to stand document records management, InfoCare has provided release of information services to healthcare and legal clients. These services will be expanded under new ownership.

For Access, the acquisition is a chance to expand into the Pacific Northwest. According to a company press release, Access is the largest privately held records and information management provider in the U.S.
