Gas prices have steadily dropped in the past month in the Bellingham metro area, getting back under $4 a gallon.
The average price for a gallon of gas in Bellingham on Monday, Aug. 25 was $3.96, down 3 cents from a week ago, according to AAA Washington. Last month, the average gas price was $4.06 a gallon.
While down recently, Bellingham's price is up 14 cents a gallon compared to a year ago.
Bellingham continues to have the highest average price in the state among major metro areas. Seattle is next, at $3.93 a gallon. Spokane has the least expensive, at $3.77 a gallon.
