When it comes to financial health, Whatcom Educational Credit Union remains in great shape, according to a national study.
DepositAccounts.com looked at more than 6,000 credit unions across the nation, weighing a variety of factors, including capitalization, deposit growth and loan-to-reserve ratios. WECU ranked 34th highest in the 2016 edition. It’s the third consecutive year the credit union made the list, coming in 72nd highest in 2015.
No other Whatcom County credit unions were in the top 200. The only two Washington banks on the top 200 bank list were Commencement Bank of Tacoma, coming in at 127, and 1st Security Bank of Mountlake Terrace at 151.
According to the study, WECU has 277 employees and more than 78,000 members. It is the 189th largest credit union in the U.S.
