Bellingham insurance firm acquired by Confie

A longtime local insurance firm was purchased by a national company.

Duane Sammons Insurance Center Inc. at 1414 Broadway was acquired by Confie, a California-based insurance company. In an announcement made on Monday, Jan. 11, Confie acquired the Bellingham company along with firms in Florida and New York.

According to a news release from Confie, Duane Sammons will remain with the company. No immediate changes are expected except that the agency will have more resources to tap into.

Duane Sammons Insurance Center has operated in the community for more than 30 years, providing personal and small commercial insurance lines. The acquisition fits well with Confie’s plans to grow in the Pacific Northwest, said Valeria Rico, CEO of Confie.
