A locally owned shop with multiple Whatcom County locations is permanently closing its original store.

Bella Boutique & Consignment, a family-owned boutique launched by Martha Bermudez and her sister-in-law, Fanni Bermudez, first opened in downtown Ferndale in 2021. The sisters opened their second location in Blaine in 2024.

The team recently announced they will be closing the downtown Ferndale location soon, according to a July 14 Facebook post.

“After a lot of thought, we’ve made the difficult decision to put our Ferndale location up for sale,” the social media post states. “This sweet little shop has so much potential, and we’ve truly loved being a part of the Ferndale community. However, managing two locations has become increasingly challenging, and with the current economic climate, we’ve decided it’s the right time to focus our time and resources on growing our Blaine location.”

No official closing date has been announced.

“For now, it’s business as usual! We’ll be sure to keep you updated as things progress and let you know of any changes along the way,” the post states.

“If you, or someone you know, has ever dreamed of owning a charming, consignment boutique, we’d love to chat. We’re open to reasonable offers, so don’t hesitate to reach out for more information,” the post states.

Both store locations are currently open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and noon to 3 p.m. Sundays at 5686 3rd Avenue in Ferndale, and 625 Peace Portal Drive in Blaine.

“To our amazing customers and consignors-thank you. Your support has meant everything to us, and we hope you’ll continue to support this location and its future owners. We officially listed the business yesterday, and we wanted to give you a heads-up before you heard it elsewhere.”
