Overview
The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLB subcompact luxury SUV is built on a unibody platform that has been in production since the model's debut for 2020. A turbocharged 2.0-liter inline four drives the GLB 250 in front- or all-wheel-drive configuration, while the AMG GLB 35 runs a more powerful version of the same engine. The GLB's defining trait within its segment is an optional third row, which extends seating capacity to seven but comes at the expense of rear cargo space, although it will still attract buyers with genuine passenger flexibility requirements.
What's New for 2025
The 2025 GLB receives two additions to the GLB 250 lineup, neither of which touches the powertrain or structural design. A Night Package Lite expands the exterior personalization options. The Surround View System 360-degree camera, previously bundled into other packages, can now be ordered as a standalone option on the GLB 250.
The AMG GLB 35 carries over without any equipment changes for 2025, as its significant mid-cycle update occurred for the 2024 model year with a revised front fascia, 48-volt mild-hybrid system, updated MBUX, and a new AMG Performance steering wheel.
Exterior
The GLB's upright proportions set it apart from the rounded crossover shapes that dominate the subcompact luxury segment. The look is more in line with a traditional SUV than a lifestyle wagon. The front fascia features a broad trapezoidal grille flanked by LED headlights, standard across all trims. The GLB 250 rides on 18-inch alloy wheels, while the AMG GLB 35 steps up to 19-inch wheels as standard, with optional AMG designs up to 21 inches in size.
The optional Night Package Lite darkens exterior trim elements for a more aggressive street appearance. The AMG variant's exterior differentiation includes a restyled front bumper, AMG-specific hood crest, revised LED headlight signatures, and rocker panel treatments that arrived with the 2024 refresh.
Interior
The GLB's dashboard centers on side-by-side 10.25-inch displays, one serving as the digital instrument cluster and the other as the MBUX touchscreen, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard across all trims. Upholstery is MB-Tex leatherette with heated front seats, while dual-zone climate control, and a wireless charging pad are standard.
The AMG GLB 35 adds an AMG Performance steering wheel with integrated AMG Drive Unit controls, along with AMG-specific display graphics and sport seat configurations. The sliding and reclining second row adjusts to liberate more legroom or accommodate more cargo, and maximum cargo capacity with the middle and third row folded reaches 56.7 cubic feet, placing the GLB at the top of its competitive set for versatility.
Price Range and Best Value Trim
The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLB's price spans $14,300 across three configurations, and the GLB 250 4Matic represents the best value among them, adding all-wheel drive for a $2,000 premium over the front-wheel-drive GLB 250.

Pros and Cons
Pros
- Optional third row is unique in the subcompact luxury segment.
- GLB 250 reaches 60 mph in a claimed 6.9 seconds, quick for the class.
- 28 mpg combined on GLB 250 is above segment average.
Cons
- Third-row use drops cargo volume to just 5.1 cubic feet.
- No complimentary maintenance.
- Powertrain and warranty coverage unchanged since launch.
Verdict
The 2025 GLB holds a specific position in the subcompact luxury segment that no direct rival currently occupies, as it offers a third-row option in a package priced below $50,000. That flexibility comes with a real trade-off, as deploying the rear bench eliminates nearly all liftgate storage. Against the BMW X1, Audi Q3, and Volvo XC40, the GLB concedes on warranty terms and lacks complimentary maintenance, but leads on passenger capacity and cargo versatility. The AMG GLB 35 narrows the gap to the GLC in price while delivering 302 horsepower and a more engaging driving character.
