A Bellingham LGBTQIA+ bar has closed permanently, clearing way for new venture
Miller’s Back Door Comradery & Cocktails in downtown Bellingham closed permanently Jan. 31 after celebrating its eighth year in business.
Owners announced the closure Dec. 1 in a social media post.
“We made it 8 years as a small cocktail lounge in downtown Bellingham, and we are so proud of everyone’s work especially the bartenders who created memorable cocktails, menus for special occasions and even just your every day mixed beverage,” the Instagram post states.
The bar was started by Rian Greer and Andrew Keith, owners of Rumors Cabaret and -HUT- in Bellingham.
The closure is due to “revenue not supporting the space,” according to the post, but it doesn’t mean the owners are done.
“Backdoor will go away, and we will work to create a new brand that better supports our community spaces,” the post states. “We are sad to see BackDoor go, but look forward to creating a new space that helps support the community. Stay tuned!”
“Times are tough, but the new brand will still be dedicated to the LGBTQIA+ community and our allies,” the post states.
Miller’s Back Door Comradery & Cocktails bar was located at 1119 Railroad Ave. in downtown Bellingham. No future plans for the space have been announced.
