CHS Northwest notifies state it will close Lynden’s True Value store, lay off 11

Lynden’s True Value hardware store is set to close as its parent company, CHS Northwest, has decided to sell the Lynden location.

CHS Northwest filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification to the Washington State Employment Security Department on Jan. 28.

CHS is selling the Lynden store at 119 17th St. in the Fairway Center, resulting in 11 employees being laid off, according to the notification. The layoffs are expected to go into effect April 1. According to the notice, other CHS owned stores across Washington also may be sold.

CHS Northwest is an agribusiness cooperative based in Lynden. The notification letter states that all affected employees have been notified.

True Value is regularly open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday at 119 17th St.
