Open for business: These 10 new Bellingham retail stores launched in 2025

Many new stores and businesses opened in Whatcom County in 2025. Here’s our list of several of the new gift shops, wellness centers, retail shops and more that opened within the last year:

La-Z-Boy

A La-Z-Boy furrniture store took over the previous location of Rite Aid in Bellingham in January. The furniture store is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at 22 Telegraph Rd. in Bellingham, near Bellis Fair mall.

Little Stars Toy Store

Little Stars Toy Store & Playhouse, a toy shop and indoor play center for children, opened in March. The shop is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 1418 Cornwall Ave. in downtown Bellingham.

Restore Hyper Wellness

Restore Hyper Wellness, a wellness studio offering services such as red light therapy, cryotherapy, IV drip therapy, infrared saunas and facials, opened in Bellingham in March. The studio is open regularly from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at 2411 James St., near Trader Joe’s.

Stockton’s Paint

Stockton’s Paint, a family-owned paint store with locations in Bellingham and Mount Vernon, opened a second Bellingham location in Barkley Village in April. The paint store is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily at 1255 Barkley Blvd. in Bellingham.

Club Pilates

Club Pilates, a chain pilates studio business, opened in Bellingham’s Barkley Village in June. The business has locations across the country, including Mill Creek, Bothell and Bellevue. The studio is open from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 2945 Newmarket St., Suite 107.

Outdoor Research

Outdoor Research, a Seattle-based outdoor retail store and brand, opened its Bellingham location in July. The 2,736-square-foot retail store will be filled with Outdoor Research’s mountain bike apparel, outerwear, sportswear and more. The store is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday at 1501 12th St. in Bellingham.

CVS Pharmacy

CVS Pharmacy opened a new location at 220 36th St. in Bellingham, the previous location of Rite Aid pharmacy in September. The store and pharmacy are open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. It offers immunizations, in-store pick-up and prescription delivery. CVS also took over Rite Aid locations in Ferndale, Lynden and Blaine.

The Miller Homestead Bloom and Bake

The Miller Homestead Bloom and Bake, a home store with baked goods, eggs and herbal remedies, opened in September. The home store will be open each weekend offering a variety of goods such as rosemary garlic parmesan focaccia bread, chocolate chip cookies, pumpkin coffee cake and cardamom oatmeal cookies with maple espresso glaze. The shop’s menu will vary each week. The shop is open Fridays through Sunday until 7 p.m. at 564 E Smith Road in Bellingham.

The Bellinghamsters Plush Adoption Center

A niche Bellingham gift shop called The Bellinghamsters Plush Adoption Center is opened in October. The shop was located at 1308 Meador Ave., but due to flooding in December has temporarily closed. A new location is set to be announced soon.

The Good Feet Store

The Good Feet Store opened a new Bellingham location in December. The arch support store and fitting center is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at 1225 E Sunset Drive, Suite 150.
