The restaurants were rumored to close in February, when co-owner Sam Hassan, Nancy’s husband, announced he was moving out of the country.

“I definitely don’t want people thinking we’re closed or have gone away. I am very much in business and our doors are open,” Nancy Hassan wrote in an email to The Bellingham Herald in February.

But now, both restaurants have permanently closed, according to Facebook posts on Sept. 3

The Bellingham Herald reached out to Nancy Hassan but did not receive a response as of Sept. 10.

Milano’s Italian restaurant was at 1210 11th St. in Bellingham. The Fairhaven Village Tacos double-decker bus was located at the corner of 11th & Harris Ave.

An application for a new spirits, wine, bar and lounge called “Sugar & Co.” has been filed to the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board for Milano’s previous location.
