What are the rules for smoking cigars on a cruise ship?
Most opportunities to smoke a cigar at sea don't make it prominently into the daily schedule, and some of the best experiences are the ones you have to seek out. Royal Caribbean's Cigars Under the Stars is one of those hidden gems that many cruisers never discover.
TravelHost's Come Cruise With Me Editor in Chief Daniel Kline and his travel agent partner, Postcard Travel Planning's Dennis Post, recently shared insider tips on finding these cigar events, what to expect, and how to save money while enjoying them in the video below.

Dan Kline: Hey there, cruisers. Dan and Dennis, your travel hosts. We are talking about something not all of you are going to care about. Smoking cigars on a cruise ship. Now, I never smoke cigars on land or rarely smoke cigars on land, but I enjoy doing it on a cruise ship. And Royal Caribbean has cigars under the stars. It's usually not every night, but, Dennis, it's also tricky to find sometimes, right?
Dennis Post: Yeah. You really got to pay attention. They usually don't have it the first night, but after that they do. It's on some deck somewhere. There's usually a bar with some bourbon, and they sell cigars there, which is important.
Kline: So here on Allure of the Seas, which is in the background behind us. It's two ships over.

Post: Yeah.
Kline: Back there. They're doing it on the suite deck. A deck we normally wouldn't be allowed to be on because we're not staying in a suite. They have a nice little selection of cigars. They have some bourbon. They have some scotch that they don't normally have. And you get to meet some really nice people. People are smoking cigars. Now we bring our own cigars. That's the secret.
Post: Yeah.
Kline: You don't want to pay them $15 for a $10 cigar.

That said, they usually have a nice selection. So if you want to try different things, let us share with you. Our friend Bruno gave us this tip. If you like a cigar, take a picture of the wrapper so you can then go buy it. And generally at home, if you buy a case, it's going to be half the price. Much less than you pay individually.
But cigar under the stars is in the cruise compass. It's not always easy to find, but it is generally a good time. It usually runs from about 8:00 to about 11:00. I am Dan, he is Dennis. Come cruise with us soon.
