Nelle McClenahan poem: ‘Family Travel’
We’re going, going, going where?
Who knows? until at last we’re there.
GET IN! GET IN!
GET OUT! GET OUT!
I will! You didn’t have to shout!
Okay. I’m sorry.
Try to smile.
We’ll be there
in a little while.
Just settle down
and all be quiet.
Sleeping helps.
You just might try it.
I’d like to
but he’s crowding me!
His leg is bumping
on my knee!
I have to pee!
You’d better stop!
I really do.
I kid you not!
Three in the back.
Who gets in the middle?
None of us
is very little!
We’ll all take turns.
That’s only fair.
How long until
we’re finally there?
THAT long! Oh dear!
Oh me ... oh my!
I may not last ...
I think I’ll die!
