What is Moon Valley Organics? Located in Deming, Moon Valley is an organic, sustainable farm business that makes and sells body care products — lotion bars, hand soaps, salves, skin balms and creams, and other products — using organic herbs grown at Moon Valley or purchased from other organic farmers and suppliers in the Northwest.

Kim and Aaron Otto, herbalists who started Moon Valley in 1998, collaborated with Dr. Daniel Newman of Vancouver, Wash., and other herbalists to formulate their salves. New items in the works are a facial line and shampoo and conditioner.

Information about the resources they use are available upon request at info@moonvalleyorganics.com.

Company with principles: Moon Valley purchases materials from farmers and suppliers that support fair trade and the Rainforest Action Network.

Further reflecting its commitment to the environment, Moon Valley packaging is recyclable and BPA-free, made from the highest percentage of post-consumer recyclable material available.

As the company says, “Our design, research, production, and sales teams are an assembly of strong local community organizers, artists, parents, entrepreneurs, activists, engineers, doctors, herbalists, and farmers dedicated to living in and creating a more sustainable, wholesome world.”

Where can you find their products? Outlets in Whatcom County include Community Food Co-op, Terra Organica, Third Planet, Paper Dreams, BelleWood Acres and Crossroads Grocery.
